Admissions in Liaquat National College of Nursing in 2021

Liaquat National College of Nursing was established in 1981 and since then has been among the top private universities of Pakistan. B.S (Generic) Nursing

B.S (Generic) Nursing is a four year degree aimed at turning students into professional nurses. This program intends to make it’s students into capable and highly trained nursing staff complete with all the skills required on the job

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have completed 12 years of education and have completed their HSSC/F.Sc with at least 55% marks from the pre-medical group i.e. have physics, chemistry, and biology as compulsory subjects. If the student has completed his relevant education from a foreign education board such as A-Levels, an equivalency certificate will be required from IBCC.

B.Sc Nursing (Post RN)

B.Sc Nursing (Post RN) is a 2 year program that is geared towards more experienced nurses to provide them with the skills and knowledge to take their expertise to the next level and enhance their skill set to include more challenging disciplines. 

Eligibility Criteria 

B.Sc Nursing (Post RN) first requires prospective students to complete a 3 year diploma in general nursing, 1 year specialization in any discipline such as psychiatric nursing, Community Health Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Cardiac Nursing or Midwifery. 2 years of clinical experience which will be counted after specialty, and a valid PNC registration card

One year diploma

One year diplomas are meant for nurses who wish to further themselves in the field of nursing to specialize and expand their skill set into a specific branch of nursing to become better qualified. These diplomas include the courses of Diploma in Nurse Midwifery, Post Basic Diploma in Cardiac Nursing, Post Basic Diploma in Accident and Emergency Nursing.

To enroll into the one year diploma program the candidate must have completed a diploma in general nursing and also must have a valid PNC card

University of Punjab is among the oldest institutes of higher learning in Pakistan; founded in 1882 by the British Government. The University of Punjab currently offers two programs in the discipline of nursing which are Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Generic BSN) and Post RN BSN.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Generic BSN)

This program is a four year degree, it aims to equip students with capabilities to become knowledgeable nurses. After these four years students are ready to give their PNC license exam and become a RN.

Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Generic BSN) is that the student applying should be less than 24 years of age, should have cleared his F.Sc (Pre-Medical) with at least 55% marks.

Students wishing to enroll into this program must meet the requirements set by the university which are to have cleared matriculation (science) by at least 55% marks, a diploma in nursing, and a diploma in midwifery (or any post specialty diploma for males).

NOTE: Both these programs are self supported but there are financial aid opportunities for students which will be judged on a case by case basis.

The program for Post RN BSN only lasts for four semesters while the program for BSN is for eight semesters; the additional semesters in the list are added for if the student is unable to graduate on time.

University of Health Sciences- Admissions, Fee Structure 2021

University of Health Sciences Lahore was established in 2002 by the then President of Pakistan Mr. Pervez Musharaf. The University was ranked by the Higher Education Commision of Pakistan as the No.2 university for medical and health sciences. It is also responsible for conducting the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (also known as MDCAT).No private university or degree awarding institute (DAI) within Punjab is allowed to provide the undergraduate degrees in medicine (MBBS) and dentistry (BDS) without affiliation to the University of Health Sciences, Lahore.

The University of Health Sciences Lahore offers three programs for the field of nursing each being Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Post RN BSN and Masters of Science in Nursing

Bachelors of Science in Nursing

This program is a four year degree, it aims to equip students with capabilities to become a professional nurse. After these four years students will be able to give their PNC license exam and become a registered nurse.

Graduate Programs

Masters of Science in Nursing

University of Health Sciences started its Masters in Nursing program in 2008, the first-ever such program in the public sector in Pakistan. The Masters of Science in Nursing program is meant to satisfy the critical need for leaders, advanced clinicians, nursing educators, and researchers in nursing. The program is structured around the major components of theory, research, management and clinical practice.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate willing to apply for Masters of Science in Nursing must meet the following requirements, a SSC (Secondary School Certificate) from the science group or equivalent, an HSSC (Higher Secondary School Certificate) or equivalent, 3 year diploma in case the student had not enrolled for HSSC, four years of BScN degree or two years of Post RN BSN  attested by the HEC, valid PNC license, and 2 years of clinical experience including one year of internship.

Admission Open in Ziauddin College of Nursing 2021

Ziauddin College of Nursing, earlier referred to as School of Nursing, became the primary Academic unit of Ziauddin University. It was established and recognized through the Pakistan Nursing Council in 1986. In 2009, the School of Nursing was upgraded to the extent of College. The university gives diverse programs at undergraduate and graduate stage to college students coming from numerous ethnic and socio-financial backgrounds of Pakistan. The recognition of Ziauddin College of Nursing has grown nationally and across the world as a result of the competency, essential wonder and expertise of the graduate.

Upon completion of this program the graduate is ready to be a nurse, the BScN students can enroll with the Pakistan Council of Nursing after completing a one year internship according to the guidelines of the PNC internship and must pass the PNC license exam.

Admissions:

The Ziauddin University College of Nursing conducts an admission test for all eligible applicants through the university’s examination department. The test consists of multiple choice questions and short questions of various types. The test consists of four sections in which the performance of each candidate in the fields mentioned below is tested:

  • English
  • Science
  • General Knowledge
  • Mathematics

The applicant will be interviewed to assess their suitability, complete the relevant course and embark on a career in nursing. The interview takes place at the Ziauddin College of Nursing.

Prospective candidates can be eligible for the program of Post RN BSN if they meet the requirements laid out by Ziauddin College of Nursing which are that the candidate must have completed his Matriculation with a biology major, have a diploma in nursing, have diploma in midwifery (For male candidates, any post basic specialty in lieu of midwifery), have 2 years of clinical experience as a RN, and a valid registration with PNC.

KMU Institute of Nursing Sciences Admissions, Fee Structure and Scholarships 2021

KMU Institute of Nursing Sciences is one of the new generations of Medical Universities in Pakistan, established through the Khyber Medical University Act 2006 (KPK Act No. 1 of 2007). The University is envisaged to grow as a modern Centre of excellence in the field of medical sciences and technology. Khyber Medical University is committed to the provision of intellectual leadership and development and emerges as a beacon of light for regional hubs in scientific, educational, and technological development in health care. 

The KMU Institute of Nursing Sciences (INS) at Khyber Medical University was established in 2008-09 to promote nursing education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The INS is the first public sector institution in the province offering Bachelor’s degree programs in Nursing. Since its start, the Institution has been offering Master in Nursing in Sciences 2 years, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing including Post RN BScN (2 years), Generic BScN(4 years), and recently added a one-year degree program of Fast Track BScN for senior registered nurses. The vision of INS is to take the lead in nursing education in the province and compete with the demands of the nursing profession both nationally and internationally in today’s complex health care systems.

Undergraduate Programs

There are two programs offered by KMU for the field of nursing which are BS. Nursing and Post RN.

Open merit seats are open for admission to applicants possessing a valid domicile certificate

BS. Nursing

This program is a four-year degree, it aims to equip students with capabilities to become professional nurses. After these four years, students will give their PNC license exam and become a registered nurses.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission will be open to candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (F.Sc. Pre-medical) or possess an equivalent qualification from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks. 

The merit for admission will be determined as follows.

  • Examination Test Weightage Adjusted marks obtained in F.Sc or Equivalent examination: 50%
  •  Entry Test marks: 40%
  •  Marks Obtained in S.S.C examination: 10% 

Note: 10 marks will be deducted from F.Sc marks for each additional attempt.

Post RN BS. Nursing

Candidate applying for the admission shall fulfill the following criteria:

  • Diploma in General Nursing (at least 2nd division)
  • Diploma in Midwifery for female nurses (at least 2nd division)
  • For male nurses one year diploma in any specialty registered with PNC, at least 2nd division (in lieu of Midwifery)
  • Complete and documentary evidence of 02 years’ post specialty experience as an RN in any nationally recognized institute

Merit will be calculated as below:

  • Cumulative percentage of all the diploma examinations including midwifery. 
  • Percentage marks in entry test.
  • One mark per year of the professional experience in a recognized institution up to a maximum of 05 marks.

Graduate Programs

There is one program offered by KMU for the graduates of the nursing program which is Masters In Nursing (MSN).

KMU Institute of Nursing Sciences has decided to start a 2 years MSN program from February 2014. This program is intended to provide opportunities to nursing professionals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to improve their qualifications and expertise who would otherwise have had to travel outside the province.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • BSN (4 Years Generic) or BSc Post RN from a recognized university or DAI.
  • Minimum 1- year experience for B.Sc Nursing post RN & Minimum 3-years (1-Year Internship and 2 years experience) for BSNursing 4years. 
  • CGPA of not less than 2.5. 
  • Valid PNC license. 
  • Both male and female can apply. 
  • Domicile open.

Selection Criteria:

  • Percentage of final professional examination to 40 marks. 
  • Percentage of Entrance test to 30 marks. Passing marks in the entry test will be at least 60% 
  • One mark per year of service in a recognized institution up to a maximum of 5 marks. 
  • Publication: : in HEC/PNC recognize journals maximum 5 marks 

             i.  1 st author: 1.0 marks per paper 

             ii.  2 nd & 3rd author: 0.5 marks per paper 

             iii.  4 th and onward author: 0.2 marks per paper 

  • Interview: 20 marks. (Any applicant who secures less than 50% marks in an interview shall be declared as unsuccessful).

USAID NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS:

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is committed to playing its role in the progress and development of the higher education sector and has offered Scholarships to financially disadvantaged students to study Medical and Allied Health Sciences. The scholarships will be offered to the students fulfilling their criteria and

subject to availability of funds.

PRIME MINISTER TUITION FEE REIMBURSEMENT SCHEME:

The Higher Education Commission, Islamabad support the educational sector of the following less developed areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA under the Prime Minister Tuition Fee Reimbursement Scheme and pay a tuition fee of the students studying in Masters, M.Phil, and Ph.D. programs in all Public Sector Universities of Pakistan, subject to availability of funds.

The eligibility criteria for Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery requires students to fulfill the conditions as stated: they must have cleared their SSC examinations, they need to have obtained their three year RN diploma, have a current and valid registration card (CNIC), or license of their country of residence, must have achieved at least Second Division of their Provincial Nursing Board Examination, evidence of one year of clinical experience as an RN, completed RM diploma, and a No Objection Certificate from the departments where RN/RM has been completed.

Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BScN)

This program is a four-year degree with one year of mandatory internship that brings up the total time for the degree to 5 years; it aims to equip students with capabilities to become a professional nurse. After these 5 years, students will be able to give their PNC license exam and become a registered nurse.

Eligibility Criteria

To enroll in the Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BScN) a student needs to clear his HSSC examinations with at least 50% from the pre-medical group which means physics, chemistry, and biology must be included as compulsory subjects. If a student has the equivalent qualifications from a foreign education system such as A-Levels will need an equivalency certificate from IBCC (Inter Board Chairman of Committee), which must state that the marks equal to at least 50% the pre-medical group.

Post-RM Bachelor of Science in Midwifery​

This 2-year program seeks to give students the knowledge and skills to become proficient at pregnancy, childbirth postpartum care, neonatal care, and family planning.

The program offers admissions every alternate year. The admissions are not being offered in 2021.

Accommodation.

Hostels are available for all students at an additional cost of Rs.22,500.

NOTE: An additional amount of Rs. 5,900 will be charged for students living in the on-campus hostel as air-conditioning charges. In addition, students will be billed for the actual utilization of the air conditioning.

Graduate Programs.

Master of Science in Nursing  (MScN)

The MScN is a two-year program to prepare advanced practice nurses capable of developing innovative and practical solutions to complex health problems from a scientific perspective. Moreover, they will be able to utilize existing theories and research findings in providing care to individuals, families, and communities. The program will also provide nurses with the necessary skills to conduct research that will contribute to the body of knowledge defining the discipline of nursing.

Eligibility Criteria

A student must have completed 16 years of education. There are two ways a student can be eligible for the MScN program depending on whether the prospective student has completed Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Post RN-BScN.

Student from Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BScN) would be required to have an SSC (Secondary School Certificate) from the science group or equivalent, an HSSC (Higher Secondary School Certificate) or equivalent, four years of BScN degree attested by the HEC, valid PNC license, and 2 years of clinical experience including one year of internship.

Admission Process.

Undergraduate Programs:

The admission process for undergraduate programs is divided into three stages. The first stage includes the submission of the application to The Aga Khan School of Nursing and Midwifery and then the students are invited to give an admission test.

The admission test for BScN is based on English language, Mathematics Reasoning, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. Meanwhile, the test for Post RN BScN will include sections from English language and Nursing knowledge, both these tests are MCQs.

In the second stage, candidates will be shortlisted based on the admission test and will then be required to submit the required documents and then be required to attend a panel interview.

Stage three will be when the final selection of candidates takes place.

Graduate Programs:

 The admission process for the graduate program can be broken down into three stages.

The first stage includes the submission of the application and the students then must give the admission test. The admission test will include a section for English language, quantitative reasoning, and subject-specific exam.

The second stage is when candidates are shortlisted based on their admission tests; the students shortlisted must provide relevant academic documents including work experience certificates and references.

The third stage involves the university making a final selection of candidates.

Scholarships and Financial Aid.

For students who are selected and are unable to pay for the cost of education, the University operates a needs-sensitive Financial Assistance Programme. Through this program, the University extends financial support, to the extent possible, to students who secure admission to University programs but are not able to pay tuition and other fees.

The continuation of financial assistance is conditional upon a yearly assessment of the financial needs of the student. Financial assistance is awarded as a combination of grant-in-aid and student loans depending on the socio-economic profile of the student as assessed by the University. Students are not required to repay the grant-in-aid portion of the assistance awarded. The student loan portion of financial assistance is interest-free with only an administrative charge of 5% per annum levied from the time of the student loan award. The loan portion of financial assistance becomes payable one year after graduation.

For University graduates who continue to work or study at AKU after graduation, the University offers a 50% waiver of the loan amount payable in that particular year provided all payment conditions have been met.

Superior Nursing College is a well rounded option for anyone who wishes to pursue the discipline of nursing with a well built campus in Lahore and an established reputation as their parent organization Superior University which was founded on the 5th of January in the year 2000; being chartered by the Government of Punjab and recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
